Recently it has become public that some journalists have been paid off to write propaganda for the Bush govt. under the guise of independent journalism. This blatant disregard for traditional journalistic ethics means nobody ever again can accept a media account of anything of concern to the nations' rulers at face value. We, the public, must be forever on our guard against those in power who would manipulate public opinion. In that spirit, I find myself asking, is Dr. James DeMeo being paid off by somebody to write the anti-Islamic material he has been churning out lately? one reason I am thinking of this possibility is that so much of what he has been saying lately is so inconsistant with his previous positions. However much he hates Islam, and with however much good reason, DeMeo has always been against Christian repression and puritanism as well, and opposed to the sort of policies the Bush White House endorses, such as laws against abortion and efforts to discourage sex among adolescents. Now, however, it seems Bush and his followers can do no wrong; Bush is the ''leader of the free world'' in a ''fight against terrorism''. A few years ago, whatever my differences with Dr. DeMeo, and they were many, I would at least have expected him to defend civil liberties, not endorse their destruction. I wonder if he really is being paid to write this material, and if so, who is paying him to write pro-Bush propaganda, and how much he is getting for it? Or does anyone think Reichians, alone among humans, are immune to coruption?
